VICTRON Orion XS DC-DC 12/12 50A 12V battery charger

The Victron Orion XS 12/12-50A is an advanced, intelligent 12V to 12V DC-DC battery charger, designed for dual battery systems (starter and auxiliary/service) in vehicles, boats and RVs, especially those equipped with smart alternators (Euro 5/6). It represents Victron’s latest generation DC-DC charger, offering major improvements in efficiency, cooling and control compared to the Orion-Tr Smart.

It delivers a charging current of up to 50A (700W), fully adjustable in 0.1A steps via the VictronConnect app, helping protect the alternator and allowing easy adaptation to future upgrades such as additional batteries or lithium technology. It features an adaptive 4-stage charging algorithm (bulk, absorption, float etc.), with 8 pre-configured profiles for all battery types (lead-acid and lithium) as well as full custom configuration capability.

The unit includes engine run detection, ensuring charging only occurs when the engine is running, along with comprehensive electronic protection against over-charging, short circuits, overheating, input undervoltage and low temperature to protect lithium batteries. At high temperatures, output power is automatically reduced. Full rated output is maintained up to 40°C.

Thanks to its innovative aluminium PCB cooling technology, the Orion XS achieves up to 98% efficiency without a fan, resulting in very low heat generation, compact dimensions and low weight (~0.33kg). It is IP65 rated, fully dust-tight and water resistant, making it suitable for demanding installations. It supports parallel connection of an unlimited number of units to increase total charging current and can also operate as a regulated power supply with an adjustable output voltage of 10–17[V].
