The Sunlight SPG 12V-240Ah S is a 12V 202Ah (C10) sealed lead-acid battery using GEL technology, optimized for deep discharge applications like solar power systems, UPS (backup power), telecommunications and other utility or service equipment. It’s a deep-cycle battery — meaning it’s designed to be repeatedly discharged and recharged without damage. It has a lifecycle of 1200 cycles at 50% DoD (Depth of Discharge).

Technical Specifications

  • Voltage: 12V (nominal)
  • Capacity: 240Ah at 25°C nominal
  • Technology: VRLA (Valve-Regulated Lead-Acid) GEL
  • Type: Deep cycle
  • Maintenance: Maintenance-free (no water addition required)
  • Construction: Sealed, vibration-resistant, no leaks
  • Capacity by discharge rate (approx): 10-hr rate: ~202Ah
  • Lifecycle: ~1200 cycles at 50 % Depth of Discharge (DoD)
  • Float life: Designed for ~12 years float life at 20°C
  • Self-discharge: ~3 % per month at 20 °C
  • Charging voltages: Float: ~ 2.27-2.30 [V] per cell at +25°C
  • Temperature compensation: approx. −30 mV/°C

Operating temperature ranges:

  • Discharge: −15°C to +65°C
  • Charge: −10°C to +60°C
  • Storage: −20°C to +60°C

GEL vs AGM vs Flooded

GEL technology means the electrolyte is suspended as a gel — this improves deep-cycle life and makes the battery more resistant to vibration and shock than standard flooded batteries.
Compared with AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat), GEL performs better under high discharge and deep cycles, but can require slightly different charging profiles.

Charging & Maintenance

Use a charger compatible with GEL batteries (charging voltages and profiles matter).
Keep the battery in a cool, ventilated area and avoid extreme heat or flames despite it being sealed.

Storage

If not used for a long period, fully charge before storage and recharge ~every 6 months to prevent sulfation and capacity loss.

  • Solar & wind power systems (energy storage)
  • Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
  • Telecommunications equipment backup
  • Remote monitoring & control equipment
  • Solar-powered street lights, water pumps
  • Electric wheelchairs & similar devices
  • Power plants
